Married - Kim and Dan

It was the discussion about a trip to Africa that caught her attention. When Kim attended a party hosted by her fencing instructor (wait - did you say fencing? Yes I did – how cool is that?), she heard someone sharing about his experience serving at an orphanage in Tanzania. She decided right then that she wanted to get to know this guy better.
Both college students at Indiana University in Bloomington , Kim and Dan soon discovered they had other interests in common. They both love to read and during the first couple years of dating, they typically would end the evening with a visit to a bookstore. Many of their dates included coffee shops, pizza at Mother Bears, or movies at the Buskirk-Chumley theatre on the IU campus.
Since Kim and Dan met and fell in love at IU, they couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Their wedding day dawned beautiful and sunny, and the Memorial Union Building began buzzing with wedding activity.

As Kim was on one floor getting ready...

Dan was trying on the cuff-links that were a gift from his bride.

Love this look of adoration from both moms…

Many thanks to my 2nd shooter, Tom Hall, for capturing this shot. This look says it all, doesn’t it?

Some of us thought Dan was joking when he said he could only pare his speech down to 4 pages. He wasn’t. He just had that many wonderful things to say about Kim.

  And then the party started!

I don't think we want to know what Dan's buddies were rapping about here, because it had him a little shook up.

A sparkler farewell and they're off on their honeymoon!

Kim and Dan, it was truly an honor to be chosen to document this very special day.  It was great fun and you guys are so perfect for each other.  May God bless you with many years of happiness together!

June self-portrait - I am...a servant

“We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us" (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to be an ambassador for Christ by serving on a mission team to Nicaragua.  Our mission had multiple goals, including dispensing used eyeglasses, installing water purification filters in homes, teaching health & hygiene, installing “skylights” in homes, and of course, being ambassadors for God.  I was able to help a little bit in all those areas except the skylight installation.

The trip was not without it’s challenges.  We were ambushed our first day in Nicaragua and my camera was stolen from me.  For this reason, the only photos I have to share here are those taken with someone else’s camera.  On the evening of the 2nd day we received very sad news of the death of a good friend at home.  There were also circumstances that caused us to change our plans on very short notice nearly every day in the mission field.  But the team remained determined to do what we were there to do and the people we served were so very kind and appreciative.  One day during an activity called “community mapping” (part of the health & hygiene training) the women of the community were given an opportunity to say what they liked about their community and what they wish could be different.  Nearly all of them said they liked everything about it and didn’t wish for it to be different.  That really warmed my heart – they don’t have much in the way of material possessions but they’re happy and satisfied.

If you’d like to see photos and read more about our daily adventures on the trip, check out our mission blog at  http://most1214.blogspot.com/.

The Kuhlman Family

Getting family portraits taken is often something that gets put on the back burner and you never seem to have time to get it done. That was the case for the Kuhlman family until Beth made up her mind that she was going to make it happen. Beth, I'm so glad you chose me to capture your sweet family in photos. I could feel the happiness in your home and documenting that with my camera was lots of fun. Enjoy some of my favorites...

Gracie, you are just too cute.

Now, these next several photos probably won't make it onto canvas or into frames, but I love the way they illustrate how much FUN the Kuhlmans have.

Sophie - Sweet 16 photo shoot

Although Sophie will not actually turn 16 until August, she already has the sweet part taken care of.  Along with her menagerie of adorable farm pets, she did a great job of modeling for her portraits. Here are some of my favorites.

Her twin baby goats were only a few days old when we took these.  SO cute.

This might be my fav - love that smile!

Sophie, I hope your 16th birthday is the best ever and that you have reasons to celebrate the whole year long!
